Is there life after Soho? In the case of Vudu Lounge, the answer appears to be affirmative. After bowing out of the ultra-competitive downtown scene, this little-nightspot-that-could has replanted itself in a somewhat improbable clubland destination: The Upper East Side. So far, the young and velvet rope-prone seem to be willing to hop on the 6 and make the trek? at least until the newness wears off. The vibe is total South Beach, with a hot-to-trot staff and a hard-partying, "let?s get freaky" clientele. Rufus McCobb spins classic hip-hop and R&B on Friday nights, and Beau Parada spins house and techno on Saturdays. Thursdays draw a slightly more mature set, with DJ Hugo providing a crowd-pleasing soundtrack of Top 40 tunes. Drinks range from $5-$8, and the $15 cover charge is nixed if you show up before 10PM. So put on your most revealing tank top and get on the 6. Uptown, this time.
