A choice destination for a rendez-vous lunch, after work cocktails or late night dinner and divertissment ,
Lea was born of a union between French nightlife magic and Italian fashion sensibility expressed,
respectively, by its owners, Mario Carta (co-owner of New York’s Chazal and boites in France and
Luxembourg) and Mario Verciani (former Business Development Director for Luca Luca, the Italian brand
adored by New York’s sexiest).
Dominating the entrance, the impressively lit floor to ceiling “Metropolis” bar pays homage to New York’s
grandest structural legacy, the skyscraper, whilst the interior locale recalls an era when the exaltation of the
senses was paramount: golden gilt mirrors, candelabra sconces and exotic reproductions of Italian Neo-
Romantic art accent the 22 foot ruby red walls whilst oversized moleskin ottomans, soft banquettes and
ambient lounge music offer lush, sensual and intimate comfort. After 10p.m., a DJ takes to spinning cool
sounds caters to the late night denizens seeking a classier option to downtown’s mega-clubs and narrow
standing-only bars.
