Last week more people lost a few hours and HAD A GOOD TIME!!!! at a packed house all night long...

So...as things are heating up...

WE GET LOST IN IBIZA

I'll be working the summer gruv with Andrew Grant. Now K1W1 is getting IBIZA on ya ASS!!!

Every summer for club aficionados across the globe, Ibiza is top priority. Known as ‘The White Isle,’ Ibiza has everything one could possibly imagine packed onto a body of land that takes only 30 minutes to cross in a car. Amongst all the beautiful beaches, restaurants, and places to go out, Ibiza is abundant with options. However, one option that is top priority, more than anything else, is Monday’s @ ‘Italian Outfitted’ DC10. If you have not heard, the party is called Circo Loco (Crazy Circus) and it is the ‘one and only party’ on the island that true underground clubbing comes alive week after week. Every DJ from Tenaglia on down wants a slot here but no one is guaranteed playing time because what makes Circo Loco so extraordinary are the resident DJ’s, and nothing else. Here, I proudly introduce to Lunar one of the residents that has outside DJ’s foaming at the mouth: Andrew Grant. And believe it or not, he’s American.

Reining from the Washington DC area, Andrew’s DJ history dates back to 1988 when he was spinning hip-hop at house parties and school dances. But, his musical tastes turned to electronica after his first trip to NYC’s Twilo in the mid 90’s where shortly after, he found himself playing a broad scale of music. Andrews first visit to Europe was in 2000 playing in Dublin on New Years and then in Paris. He stayed in Europe and in 2001, purchased a one-way ticket from Sheffield England (where he threw parties 10 weeks previous) to the White Isle. He came to Ibiza for a heavier look into the scene with a passion to play top venues. Upon being discovered, he was invited to play Thursday morning after-hours @ DC10. After just two sets he was invited to play a main 3-5 hour slot on Monday’s after Cirillo, his mentor. So @ 25 years old, Andrew Grant was adopted by DC10, one of the most recognized and well respected parties in the world, and according to Timo Maas, ‘The coolest club in Ibiza.’

After dissecting Andrew’s sets all season, he’s blessed with ‘A’ list skills and presents the whole package. He is the kind of DJ that clubbers will stumble upon in a disco and hurry up to the booth to find out who he is. I have experienced it myself. Every time he is behind the decks, it never fails. Believe the hype because this kid is so cool behind the those Technics that you can feel the confidence radiating off of him as he bobs his head to perfectly matched bass lines. Tech-house, minimal house, micro-house are all in his repertoire and combined with his aggressive mixing and ability to layer sound from all angles forms continuity keeping his sound perpetually fresh and deep driving. His sets are packed with sinister drumbeats, lonely echoes from use of his third deck, and perfect bridges between tracks. And when needed he has uncanny ability to layer bass for extra punch.
Because of his skills as a DJ and ability to hold down a residency at an Italian venue for three years strong, Andrew’s notoriety has soared and is gaining respect from top DJ’s all over the planet. To name a few, DJ Vibe, Timo Maas, and John Creamer have taken interest. The list goes on and so do the gigs. Andrew is wooed highly in Italy, Spain, Germany, and France where promoters are killing to book him because along with Andrew as a DJ comes the Circoloco@DC10 name, which attracts a flock of partygoers. In all seriousness, ‘It is difficult to appreciate just how big of a phenomenon the venue has become. ‘The way this place captures the vibe is fucking unbelievable and so on-the-bone it kind of freaks you out.’(DJ MAG) His resume gets more impressive. Along with playing ARC (Vinyl) in NYC and at Crobar @ WMC 2004 along Timo Maas, he frequently gigs at Goa in Rome and at Tribehouse in Germany. The guy is constantly in with good company. He has played with Fat Boy Slim, Sander K, Tania Vulcano, Behrouz, Dan Ghenacia, Sven Vath, Craig Richards, Mr. C, Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos, and Bill Patrick, among many others. The list is too long but the word is out and if you have not heard of him already, Andrew Grant is a diamond in the ruff. DJ saturation has kept his name on the brink in the US but the Andrew Grant fever that has spread through Euope, is about to break the States, making him one of the most highly sought after DJ’s the country has seen this century. The DJ revolution is coming and Andrew is part of it in a big way. With his unique personality, down right dirty beats, and uncanny work ethic, the man behind the decks known as Andrew Grant is destined to prevail and emerge through the underground circuit. Get ready America, and promoters, get in line to hear Ibiza’s Underground Specialist
