The term "rhythm and hues" comes to mind when entering the mondo midtown nightclub Float. Think Pink Floyd-lighting-meets-New York-swank and you've got a club that attracts a moody melange of the city's A list (Yankees, actors, rappers,) mixing it up with beautifully groomed young clubgoers. The trilevel space is actually more intimate than it sounds. The upper levels are usually velvet-roped for VIPs and bachelorette parties, while downstairs, things are nicely sectioned off by a couple of black-light bars, a nice-size dance floor and a ton of comfy couches, with every surface seeming to glow (maybe to accentuate the sensual sweat?). This isn't a place where you converse about Danish philosophy or expect a cheap cover charge. But with champagne bottles flowing, cosmopolitans kicking, DJs spinning and a big screen showing guys and girls grinding away, who cares?
