Downtown's club of the moment closely resembles the apartment everyone wishes for. Pristine hardwood floors, Eames chairs and chocolate-brown leather couches combine for a mod appeal. A raised VIP section gives 10 banquettes a bird's-eye view over the dance floor, as well as a fast-track entrance into the sleek space.

-- Shine -- Marcus Linial and Sam Lott went technical, and put together a venue that caters to music industry professionals and other media types in need of a well-equipped space for CD and film releases, industry showcases, and other high-profile events. Sleek Euro-style furniture and bright lighting give the place a clean look, but the expansive table of mixing equipment and heavy artillery of a sound system tell you that these guys are all about function. Even the VIP mezzanine seems like an observation platform, providing a direct view of the stage, as well as a close-up view of the dance floor. Their gimmick seems to be working -- word is that A-listers are all ears.
